Clinical Reference Groups (CRGs)

LMICS first establishedTumour Stream Groups in 2004 These groups were referred to as Clinical Reference Groups (CRGs) and were across four priority tumour streams: breast, colorectal, thoracic and prostate.

There was also a Sourthern Supportive Care CRG.

An evaluation of Southern CRGs was undertaken in early 2009 and involved semi-structured interviews with CRG members from all disciplines. The evaluation results demonstrated the need for a new format for CRGs to be developed for 2009 and beyond. Such CRGs will be conducted as an adjunct to MultidisciplinaryTeam meetings and will be referred to as Tumour Groups.

CRG members embraced this format as a potential solution to their ongoing time pressures and a solution to some of the barriers that restrict CRG member engagement.
