Multidisciplinary Cancer Care

Multidisciplinary care is a collaborative approach to treatment planning and ongoing care throughout the treatment pathway. Multidisciplinary care aims to ensure that members of the treatment and care team can discuss all relevant aspects of a cancer patient’s physical and psychosocial needs along with other factors impacting upon the patient’s care.

Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDM)

Cancer Patients are routinely referred to Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDM) in Bendigo, Mildura or other sites including Melbourne. These are regularly scheduled meetings of core and invited team members for the purpose of prospective treatment and care planning of newly diagnosed cancer patients as well as those requiring review of treatment plans or palliative care.

The following meetings are held weekly:

  • Bendigo Breast and Colorectal (weekly)
  • Bendigo Genitourinary (fortnightly)
  • Bendigo Head, Neck and Skin (monthly)
  • Bendigo Haematology (fortnightly)
  • Bendigo Thoracic (weekly)
  • Mildura General (fortnightly)
